My birthday story

Image from http://www.istockphoto.com/
Yippee!! My birthday is on 1st Aug and it's a Saturday this time. No office, free time means more fun actually. I always love to celebrate my birthday since my childhood. During my school time, I used to call my school mates at home on my birthday. My mother used to cook delicious food ( Chole, Puri, Kheer etc.. ) for us. I used to get new cloths and that was all about celebrating a birthday. No concept of cake at all. Then my little sister started demanding for cake so cake cutting was allowed only on my sister’s birthday. After I got married, when my birthday came I was so excited and curious how my husband is going to surprise me. Mr N loves writing and he used to write his thoughts almost every day that time. Somehow I got to read what he was planning for my birthday. I was in seventh heaven. He had properly created a list of items which he wanted to do. And that list had things started from morning till night. I thought I was going to have a blast this birthday.

Finally it was 12 AM night. Mr N got cake and a card. He didn’t invited any of our friends because he wanted to celebrate it with only two of us. WOW!! I was on cloud nine and at the same time snoopy about the card. As I opened the card I thought to see it again. It was an “Anniversary Card” :) . He brought an anniversary card in place of a birthday card. I didn’t ask anything to him thinking he might feel bad. My birthday morning started with a rose. Again it surprised me (I knew it because I have already read his planning list). I went to my office and after reaching I realized something in my office bag. It was a color box. I love crafting so he gifted me a set of awesome color pencils. Everything was so well timed. After my office I reached home and pinned the card at pin board of our room. When he came from office and noticed that it was an anniversary card, he came to me laughing and told me that instead of getting birthday card, he brought anniversary card. I then accepted that I had noticed it that time only when he gave it to me. It was really funny!! Actually he was little apprehensive about getting birthday card for me so he asked for help to one of his married friend. They both went to the card shop and with his friend’s help Mr N started selecting card. He was so busy in reading the card matter of inside that he didn’t noticed what was written in front, “Anniversary Wishes”. Whole day went very well and with known surprises.

Whenever I remember this incident, it makes me smile and feel that “Love is blind” :) ..

God save our babies from diseases

We never want our babies to get sick and for this, we try our best to keep our babies safe and healthy. But we can't hide them inside our places so they go outside play, eat and enjoy. This exposure to outside world sometime get them infected by some nasty viruses. Last week my son was suffering from severe cold-fever. We started with few medicines and saw improvements in his health. I thanked God and wished Vibhu to come out quickly from this cold bug. Cold is like a night ghost. This can't let babies sleep well. I saw Vibhu was tossing over bed because of nose blockage. Giving him nozzle drop was only option we had. We both, husband and wife, really avoid this remedy until no option left. Vibhu hate this nozzle drop but ultimately I gave it to him and he started crying with discomfort in his nose.

Next day after reaching home from my office I came to know from my mother in-law that Vibhu now got loose motions. In a single day he did it for more than 20 times. I saw his face with so much worry. He was looking dull and baffled. I took him in my arms and tried to make him smile. After some time he looked okay and slept in my lap. We had few medicines for loose motion as well so we gave it to Vibhu first day. When second day there was no respite for Vibhu, we went to our regular pediatrician. New medicines and log waiting for relief!! During this time Vibhu was irritated because of continuous cleaning and wiping. Rashes added new discomfort for him. In spite of taking medicines, there was no lighting of loose motions. Third day we again went to the same doc. He said its viral diarrhea and it takes time. But to see Vibhu in such condition was becoming painful for us. I almost cried when he shouted while changing his pants. He was not eating anything and was not taking any feed. I was continuously prying for getting easement for my baby. Finally fourth day we went to a new doc in hope of some betterment. Thank god new medicines worked for Vibhu. He slept well in night and we took a sigh of relief. To see our babies in pain is most difficult situation for a mother. Being a working mother, whole day I couldn't be with him. I normally take leaves if Vibhu is not well but this time I couldn't get leaves due to certain reasons. My husband was at home for Vibhu because Vibhu needed him. Whole week went in praying for Vibhu. We couldn't sleep well whole week and my mother in-law couldn't do any rest. But when Friday we saw Vibhu playing and singing (in his own language :) ) we all thanked God again and again !!

AFTER

I wish our babies never get affected with these awful diseases. Especially when they can't express their uneasiness in words, I find it more difficult. It takes lots of patience to deal with our ailing babies. They don't want to eat, they don't like playing either. And medicines add extra nuisance. Babies simply hate them. God please save every kid from these displeasuring situations. Give them lot of lot of smiles. Give them strength to fight all viruses. Let them play as they want. Give them abundance of joy every minutes every second!!

Childhood Love - Part 1

Can anyone fall in love when he/she is only 6-7 years old? I don't have any answer honestly. And i don't think 6 years old kid understands this term "Love" broadly. For this age, love for family is only understandable. Here is a story of love which belongs to two 7 years old kids.

Duggu and Cheenu were best friends and were students of class second. Both of them were so attached to each other that they hardly missed school. They both used to go to school together by school bus. Their chemistry was famous in school. Although they were just kids of 7 years old but they had a pure heart for each other. No selfish feeling at all.  Their bus stops were back to back so first Duggu used to get in the bus and block seat next to him for Cheenu .They were in same section actually. They used to sit in same class seat as well. And because of this both of them were actually matter of laugh for other kids of that class. Its boy and girl sitting together, shame shame!! Other kids of the class had this thinking somehow that its a bad thing to sit with opposite sex kid. No big deal, Duggu and Cheenu were not mature enough to buy this logic. They just wanted to be with each other all the time.

Duggu was a brilliant boy and was very good in Math's. Please mind it, here Math's means complex addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. They were in class second only!! Cheenu was an ideal girl child good in singing, dancing and art. But Math's was like a horrible dream for her. She used to copy Math's sum from Duggu's notebook and this was how she used to get her class work done. Home work was his mother's headache and she used to pray for maths class getting over quickly. As always one day she copied addition sum from Duggu's notebook and went to teacher for getting it checked. Duggu had already got his work checked so she was sure about answers of her notebook. As teacher saw her notebook, he gave her a slap. She was clueless thinking all of the answers she copied from Duggu's notebook were correct then why she got this!! Duggu was also shocked and actually sad. Her best friend was insulted in front of whole class. In the mean time teacher told Cheenu why she got a slap. She always copied answers from Duggu's notebook and that teacher always noticed it. But to copy anything correctly it take some use of mind so he always let Cheenu go for using her mind in copying things correctly. But that day she did a mistake in copying as well. So practically her addition sum was wrong. Poor Cheenu , first time she realized that life is more than playing with Duggu .She realized that she badly needed to learn everything of which she was dependent upon Duggu . On the other hand Duggu had a guilt. Guilt of making Cheenu wintry. Although he was just a kid still he thought and admitted his mistake. He should have told cheenu to learn addition instead of letting her copy from his notebook.

Some how day passed. Next day Cheenu didn't came at bus stop. Duggu got heavyhearted again not seeing his best friend. He reached school and joined morning prayer. After returning from assembly, he noticed Cheenu was sitting at some other place not with him. He couldn't get time to ask anything to Cheenu as the first period started. Entire period went heavy for Duggu. He was looking at Cheenu when teacher was facing the board. Clever boy he was !.Cheenu was silent and not noticing him. This made duggu restless. As first period got over, he immediately went to Cheenu and asked why she was not sitting with him. Cheenu's reply actually hurt him badly. She said she didn't want to get beaten again by sitting with him. He got upset with Cheenu. He thought to let Cheenu do what she wanted to do.  Few days passed like that. Cheenu was not talking to Duggu and Duggu didn't try to talk to her either. But soon he realized Cheenu was not looking happy. His smiling and talk-active friend had suddenly become mum. Poor kid couldn't think of any way to make her happy again. One day during a class he wrote something on a chit and threw it towards Cheenu. Cheenu simply ignored it. He again wrote some thing and threw that towards Cheenu. This time Cheenu picked that up. She opened it and after reading it she just threw it outside the window. One of the window of her class was near to her seat. Duggu was a fighter kid. He did the same thing again and this time girl sitting with Cheenu picked up the chit. She read whatever was written and said something in Cheenu ear. With offended face Cheenu read what was written.
It was " Duggu love Cheenu" !!

What happened next ?? Wait for next post of this story series.

kids can make you do any thing :)

Kids can make any one do anything. U agree?? Parents are always ready to do anything for making their kids happy even if they actually don't like doing that. Here is the short and sweet story which is a real experience of one of my office-mates.

One fine day Harman and his mother Gurpreet were going to Gurudwara. Harman's grandparents (Dadi ji and Dada ji) were also with them. They were walking by a busy road so Gurpreet was trying to hold his son's hand. She said " Harman, please hold my hand, it's a busy road baby." In reply 4 years old Harman said " You said I am a big boy now then why should I hold your hand. I can go by myself." Gurpreet got his curt reply and thought to trick him in some other way. She said " When a boy and a girl move by the road side, they always hold hands of each other. As you are a boy and I am a girl so we should hold each other’s hand. Now give me your hand Harman." The smart boy Harman gave it a deep thought. It wasn't easy to trick him. He then said to his mother " Why Dadi ji and Dada ji are not holding each other’s hands ? They are boy and girl going together on the same road." Gurpreet was speechless. She underestimated his son. Accepting her failure in convincing Harman, she requested her in-laws to hold their hands. Now Dadi- Dada were clueless. She gave them all explanation and requested that this is the only way to sell this to Harman. Dadi ji started saying " You will make us feel insulted. At this age, how can I hold Dada's hand!! It wouldn't look good. What other people will say !!" Gurpreet again got acute reply from her mother in-law. She noticed Dada ji was smiling and getting red cheeks. But on Gurpreet's strong request Dada ji held the little finger of Dadi ji and started walking for Gurudwara. Oh boy Harman!! It was only few steps ahead, Harman again stopped. Gurpreet asked him " Now what ??". Harman sweetly replied " When a boy and a girl hold each other's hand while walking, they swing them back and forth also, just like we are doing Mamma. Tell Dadi ji and Dada ji to do it like this." Gurpreet laughed and suddenly stopped laughing with the thought she can't say this to her in-laws, to swing their hands :). Harman wanted a demonstration before taking any step further. She apprehensively went to her in-laws again. She told them whole point what Harman said. Now Dadi ji was full of anger. She started saying " Why can’t you stop Harman asking so much questions. This boy has given me a real headache. How would it look, 60 years oldies walking on a busy road, holding their hands and swinging them as well." Dada ji was still smiling. He said to Dadi ji " Let’s do it for our baby Harman." Gurpreet was not able to stop her giggle seeing her in-laws walking in such a way. First time after her marriage, she saw her in-laws holding each other’s hand. Though Dadi-Dada were not looking at each other but Harman made them walk like today's couples :)

BEING HUMAN

Doctor ,what are you doing inside! Come outside soon! She cried. This was her daily routine, when doctor used to went in dining room for dinner. Doctor was the only son, who was living with her, eldest of all his 4 brothers.
He was a bright student from childhood. He used to top all his classes. He was the first boy of that village , who came first devision in all his board exams. He had two shiney big eyes on a small face and had a wheatish complexion. His younger brothers used to tease him , but he always smiled at them with lot of compassion in his eyes. It was his passion for helping others that he became assistant of the doctor of his village’s small 1 room government hospital ,on a very less salary. From then, he became popular as doctor saab. Wherever he went in his village on his bicycle, people used to stop him, and start describing their pains.
My daughter is not eating anything from last 2 days, please doctor check her. A women said with tears in her eyes. He listened patiently and ask the small girl to show her tongue. Then from his small bag, he fetched some medicines. Take this, give her 1 tablet 3 times a day, she will be fine . He told the mother and left for his other patients. He reached home at around 9’O clock.
Amma, please don’t become angry, he told his frowning mother.
You have a young bride now ,you should come early. Your brothers are playing whole day, please help them to complete their homework at least. She told in anger.
Please keep your cool, otherwise you will be sick again Amma, he said. It happened everyday.
His wife Uma was the simplest woman. She used to wake up very early in the morning , after cleaning the house and completing her prayers, she used to cook food for all family alone. Her mother in law was a strict women and always guarding her like a father. Uma loved her husband very much. She loved to watch her husband eating food silently. But she eventually came to know that her husband is more shy than her, as he did not even looks her directly in front of any other member of his family. They used to talk very less. In night they got some time to talk but mostly they slept due to tiredness of whole day’s work.
After two years of their marriage, they came to know that Uma cannot become a mother her all life. She became more silent than ever. She wept silently in nights in her husband’s arms but strongly beared comments of her mother in law and other women of village in daytime. Doctor then got a permanent job in a government school. He spent all his income in his brothers education, then marriage and to fulfill all their wishes. They got settled in different cities with good position in society. They all used to come to village in festivals and functions and sometimes just to meet Doctor ,Uma and their Mother. All brothers and their family shared great love with Doctor and Uma .All kids used to visit village’s market and chukles, Doctor papa ,Please buy me this candy, papa please buy me that ball, and Doctor brought everything they requests with a broad smile on his face and his usual warmth.
Doctor used to lent money to the needy people of village without any interest and time limit. Doctor ,please give me 100 Rs, there is no flour in my house today, said Dinu. Doctor took his hand and put 200 Rs., take this and get the flour. God Bless Doctor, said Dinu’s mother when Dinu reached home with food. This operation will require almost 5000 rs, how can we arrange this much amount , Ram Singh said to his son. Don’t worry father, I have saved around 2500 Rs., rest we will take from Doctor babuji, and will pay him afterward. Not only human being ,but animals of the village were in love with doctor. He used to serve them chapatis and leftover food. In all these deeds Uma was always with her. She never stopped him for any thing.
Then oneday he retired from his job. Along with his colleagues, many students of his school came to drop him home that day. They were young enough ,that he could see his children in them, but they all were his friends. From then he started to take care of his crop fields with more dedication.
One evening , after returning from market, he handed a bag full of vegetables to Uma and said, please make onlu two chapaties for me today. I am going to temple and will return soon. There was only four houses between temple and his home. He performed his daily prayer in temple before the deity of Lord Krishna, and then went to the priest. The priest blessed him when he touched his feet, and given him some sweets. While returning home, he met Dinu and asked him if every thing was alright. Dinu toched his feet and said that every thing is good. After reaching home, he said,
Uma, I don’t feel like eating something , give me a glass of milk only.
Eat one chapati at least, Uma said.
I will tell you later, if I want to, he replied.
In the midnight ,he shaked Uma and said,I am feeling like fire inside me, please call Dinu. Uma did as she told. Bhaiya you will be fine soon ,Dinu said to him while helping him to drink water.Bhabhi please give me the car keys, we will reach hospital in twenty minutes, then everything will be alright. He was consoling himself more than anyone there. In hospital, they took Doctor saab in emergency ward. And after 15 minutes they declared him dead.
Next day, before the body arrived at home, whole village was gathered there. There was tears in everyone’s eye. Doctor was a rich man with great personality and talents ,but everybody was talking only about the stories of his kindness. How he had helped someone to send his son  to big city for education, how he made the marriage of the daughter of a handicapped possible, how he solved the issue between two brothers and made them realize their love. In that crowd, there were people of each age group and they all had been touched by Doctor’s love someway.
He left enough property for Uma, to live rest of her life without anyone’s help. Along with this, he left something for all the human beings, whom he met directly or indirectly in this world, and that was the virtue of ‘Being Kind’, ‘Being Human’. These are the simple words, who made a simple person like Doctor ‘Immortal’.
Two days after all the rituals, his youngest brother handed Uma a list of people, whom doctor had lent money. He told,
Bhabhi, I have created this list with the help of Dinu, as he was close with Bhaiya .This will help you a lot, please take this.
Uma took the paper in her hands. Two drops of tear rolled over her cheeks. She became silent. After five minutes , she tored the paper into pieces and said, ‘when my husband never kept such record, how could I’.

This story ends here , but we could start being human now :)

A poem dedicated to all Mothers

My Mom,,my poem,,
When bells in the temple, sing a song, there are you my Mom
In the land of love, beyond right and wrong, there are you my Mom
The fire of anger and hate, burns me sometimes,
you teach me to forgive, and to listen the music of chimes
On the thorny paths, I feel hopeless,
you take my hand, and make me progress
When in darkness my heart weeps,
with your spark, it grows in bounds and leaps
When storms of world, make me blind,
I get the path, with your voice’s echoes in my mind
When I loose all hope, and feel despair,
you send me the hugs, on the wings of air
When a child with starlike eyes, gives a smile, there are you my Mom
in rain, in sun, in stone of miles, there are you My Mom !!
Love you Mom.. smile emoticon

3 Types of Love in this world

The term "Love" has always been used to describe an emotional attachment between two or more people. But the truth of matter is that there are three types of love that exist around us in this world.

1. Preet ( Love) : This is most common type of love people understand. Love for your sister, brother, family, spouse comes under this category. This love is little selfish as well. We always have a hidden desire to get the same amount of love in return from the person whom we love.

2. Bhakti ( Worship) : This is a special term which represents the divine-love of the God. With this type of love, you do not have to actually feel it for you to give it, which means that you can be able to show love without feeling anything at all. It is more of a set of behaviors or actions. This love also has a feeling of fear to be punished for wrong actions.

3. Tyaag ( Relinquishment/Surrender) : Now comes the most powerful type of love. To surrender is the most difficult nature. This love is the purest as we don't expect anything in return. Person shows this love with every mean he/she can use. And most wonderful thing is Only Mother has this love for her Babies. She shows unconditional love for her babies without caring any thing around.

It's not so that any other relation cannot express this third type of love. But to surrender our self for anyone needs lot of patient. Mothers are so created by God that they already have this love in their blood. With practicing it every day with their babies they show more of more this love.

All mothers, feel special to have this purest feeling in you. See Vibhu was like this when he was 3 days old :). First time I changed his cloths that day. He was like a pink colored soft toy. When I was done with this changing thing, I thought really I have done it ??? I used to avoid taking newborns as they are so delicate. But as you become mother you get all confidence automatically.

Be thankful to God

Few days back I woke up late and missed my office cab, intentionally. Yes, because last night I slept late as Vibhu was in mood of playing with us (me and my husband). So I decided to go office by Metro (God bless Delhi Metro). There is no direct transport available to my office, which is in Noida (NCR), so I normally go till last Metro stop and then take auto for reaching office. As usual I boarded Metro from my place, reached to my final stop and was going down towards auto stand. In every Metro station here in Delhi you can see small kids askers. They approach you for some distance and keep on asking for something to eat. I don't want to call them vagrant/beggar as they are not yet mature to understand what it means. These poor kids only need your attention and something to eat.

Moving forward to auto stand, I saw one 4 -5 years old girl sitting at staircases with a boy hardly 2 years old in her lap. She was asking every one passing from there to give food or anything. I generally take fruits with me so that if I feel like eating in office, I can avoid junk food and have some healthy item. So, that day I was having two bananas with me. I thought I can give this to the little girl and gave one banana to her. In response, she gave me a smile and showed banana to the baby in her lap. I gave the second banana to the baby and then I saw his face. He was looking very cute and I couldn't stop myself to show my affection for him and I touched his cheeks. As he didn't recognize me so like any other child, he didn't react. I was getting late for office so I rushed to catch auto. After sitting inside auto, inquisitively I turned back so that I can see what those two little ones are doing now. And then what happened made me cry almost. The little girl noticed that I am looking over them. She quickly took the baby and started coming down from stairs. She was smiling and I saw her face full of acknowledgment. She stood near my auto ( not close actually) and made baby look at me by pointing her finger. Baby also smiled at me and I felt happy. Then she said something to the baby and they both started waving for me. I was touched actually. I was able to sense their positive vibes. Until they could see my auto going, they kept on giving me wave.

Throughout the way, I was thinking about them only. My throat was choked. I have only given them two bananas but in response they showed me immense love. Kids are always like this innocent, sweet and pure but circumstances change them. Kids from families like us have option of liking/disliking. They eat what they like, they generally get toys they like, good cloths, healthy living and every pleasure we can give them. But there are kids who are not lucky enough to get all this. They struggle every day for food and live miserable life. I have decided to teach my son, whenever he'll be able to understand it, that he should be thankful to God to give him enough food, place to stay and cloths to wear. He should respect every small thing which he is getting and should help others in whatever way he can.
